    Oriental Car Insurance Claim

When a car insurance policyholder raises a request for compensation with the insurance company for the losses suffered due to his/her insured car, it is known as a car insurance claim. A policyholder can make any number of claims during the policy period subject to the sum assured mentioned in the policy document.

Oriental General Insurance offers an easy and hassle-free claim settlement process for its policyholders. A claim for a car insurance policy can be raised with Oriental General Insurance both online as well as offline by visiting its branch. A claim can be of two types - cashless claim and reimbursement claim. When a policyholder visits a garage a part of the authorised network of Oriental General Insurance, then the entire repair cost of the insured’s car is paid by the insurance claim thus, resulting in a cashless claim. Similarly, when a policyholder visits a garage outside the Oriental authorised network, then the policyholder has to pay the repair cost which the insurance company reimburses later.

How To Make A Cashless Car Insurance Claim With Oriental General Insurance

A cashless car insurance claim can be made by following the below-mentioned steps:

Step 1: Request For Claim Initiation

Immediately inform Oriental General Insurance about the accident/mishap. You can inform the insurer by calling 1800-118-485. You can also inform the insurance company by sending images of your damaged car to your Oriental General Insurance branch email id mentioned in your policy document.

Step 2: Inspection By A Surveyor

After registration of the claim raised by you, Oriental General Insurance will send a surveyor to examine the extent of damage suffered by the car. A survey of the insured’s car by the insurance company is a compulsory requirement for a successful claim settlement.

Step 3: Request For Towing Service

After completion of the examination of your damaged car, you can get your car towed to the nearest Oriental authorised garage for repairs. You can also request the insurance company to arrange for a towing service for your car.

    Step 4: Car Repairs

Your car will be repaired at the workshop and the insurer will pay the entire repair cost directly to the garage after completing all formalities and documentation.

    Step 5: Payment of Deductibles

Pay the compulsory deductible amount along with the voluntary deductible amount (if opted for) to the insurance company and take your car home!

How To Make A Reimbursement Car Insurance Claim With Oriental General Insurance

A reimbursement car insurance claim can be made with Oriental General Insurance by following the below-mentioned steps:

Step 1: Inform Oriental General Insurance

The first step is to inform the insurance company immediately about the accident/mishap involving the insured’s car. You can inform Oriental General Insurance either by calling 1800-118-485 or by sending an email containing the images of the damaged car to them.

Step 2: Survey Of Damaged Vehicle

After registering your claim request, the insurance company will assign you a surveyor who will visit you to inspect the extent of damage incurred by your car. The surveyor will send an inspection report to the insurance company after which you can proceed with the repair of your car.

Step 3: Tow Car to Preferred Garage

Get your car towed to the garage of your choice. You can either arrange for the towing service yourself or can request Oriental General Insurance to provide the same.

Step 4: Repair of Car Damages

Get your car repaired at your preferred garage/workshop. Make sure you collect all the original bills from the garage before taking your car home.

    Step 5: Claim Settlement

Submit all the original repair bills along with the required documents to Oriental General Insurance to initiate a reimbursement of the claim amount.

Post completion of all formalities, Oriental General Insurance will reimburse the claim amount to you after factoring in the applicable deductibles (compulsory and voluntary, if opted for). The reimbursement may take up to 7 working days from the date of completion of formalities.

    Common Claim rejection reasons

Following are some common reasons which can result in a claim rejection by the insurance company:

    1. Your insurance policy had lapsed at the time of the accident
    2. Unnecessary delay in reporting to the insurance company about the accident
    3. You do not have a valid driving licence
    4. You were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
    5. You have been using the car to carry out illegal activities
    6. You had not intimated the insurer before carrying out any repairs
    7. You had bought the policy in someone else’s name.

    Oriental No Claim Bonus

If someone owns a car insurance policy of Oriental Insurance and makes no claim in a policy year, then a No Claim Bonus (NCB) is offered at the time of policy renewal by the insurance company. The NCB is a discount which is to be applied on the next year’s car insurance policy premium. Every policyholder should be aware of this benefit, so he or she can make the best out of it by not making any claim. The NCB ranges between 20% to 50%, which accumulates with every claim-free year and with the same percentage the premium of the next year policy reduces.

When it comes to No Claim Bonus, it is applicable only on the premium of own-damage premium component of a comprehensive car insurance plan at the time of car insurance policy renewal. Therefore, it is very necessary for you to renew your policy timely to continue to hold and avail this NCB benefit. A unique thing about this benefit is that despite being offered with a car insurance plan, it is associated to policyholders and not the vehicle, hence, you can retain this bonus by transferring it to your new car or new insurance plan. If you do not want to lose this benefit even after making a claim, then you will have to buy an add-on cover to protect this benefit.

Yes, you remain liable to pay for the compulsory deductibles and voluntary deductible if opted for at the time of policy purchase along with the depreciation cost in case of no zero depreciation add-on cover.
    • Which type of add-on covers will help me to get higher claims?

The add-on covers which extends the standard coverage will help in getting higher claims. Example- Zero Depreciation, Engine Cover, etc.
    • What additional things do I need to furnish to the company for claim settlement in case of theft of the insured vehicle?

Apart from the necessary documents, you will be required to submit the entire set of vehicle keys, the Final Report – No Trace Report for the lost vehicle, Indemnity Bond as well as the NOC (No Objection Certificate) from the financer in case of theft of the vehicle.
    • What if someone else was driving my car when the accident occurred?

If someone else such as a hired driver or anyone has committed an accident while driving your car, you will still be entitled to file a claim. This is because a car insurance policy insures a car and not the driver.
