About United India Car Insurance

United India Insurance Company is a popular face in the car insurance industry of India. It is a public sector company headquartered in Chennai and has been at the forefront when it comes to designing and implementing reliable car insurance policies to a large customer base. It was incorporated on 18th February 1938 and later nationalised in 1942. Previously, it operated as a subsidiary of the General Insurance Corporation of India (GIC) but got autonomy along with three other primary subsidiaries, namely New India Assurance, Oriental Insurance and National Insurance, when the GIC became a re-insurance company as per the IRDA Act 1999. A total of twelve Indian insurance companies, four co-operative insurance societies, five foreign insurers with Indian operations and the general insurance operations of the southern region of Life Insurance Corporation of India were merged with United India Insurance Company Limited.

    Contact the insurance provider immediately via any of its nearest offices. List of offices is available on the company’s website.

    Survey by the company

    After informing the nearest office, the company will arrange a surveyor to inspect the accident and the damage caused to the vehicle. The surveyor will report to the company.

    Inform the local police station

    In case of any third party injuries/deaths immediately inform the nearest police station and register an FIR. A copy of FIR will have to be submitted to the company.

    Get the estimated cost of repair

    Tow the vehicle to an authorized workshop and get the estimated cost of repairs, which, in turn, will be submitted to the company along with the claim form.

    Let the company do the rest of the job

    After all the formalities, the company will proceed with rendering the claim amount as soon as possible. The claim amount will depend on the type of coverage opted for while purchasing insurance.
