Health insurance premium is the amount that you are required to pay to the insurance company or a broker like InsuranceDekho in order to avail benefits under the health insurance plan. To avail of benefits under SBI Health Insurance plans, you are required to health insurance premium in Indian currency only. You can pay the premium after every 1 year, 2 years, or 3 years, depending on the policy term opted for.
Health insurance premiums differ from plan to plan offered by SBI Health Insurance. Listed below are the factors that may increase or decrease the health insurance premium you will be required to pay for any SBI Health Insurance plan:

    • Age: Age is an important factor that affects the health insurance premium that you will be required to pay for a SBI Health Insurance plan. Young people have fewer medical complications in comparison to elderly people. So, the younger you are, the fewer the chances of you making health insurance claims are and hence, health insurance plans will be more affordable for you. Therefore, it is recommended to purchase a health insurance plan as early as possible in life.
    • Smoking Habits: People who smoke regularly are at higher health risks than people who do not. And you will be more likely to make a claim under your health insurance plan because of several medical conditions resulting due to smoking. This is why, you will be required to pay a higher premium for SBI Health insurance plan if you are a smoker and vice versa.
    • Sum Insured: Sum insured is the maximum value that an insurer pays in case you get hospitalised during a policy term. Higher the sum insured you chose, higher your coverage will be and hence higher the health insurance premium you will be required to pay for your SBI Health Insurance plan. But as higher sum insured means higher coverage, you should not compromise with it in order to reduce your health insurance premium.
    • Pre-Existing Diseases: You will be required to pay a higher premium for SBI Health Insurance plan if you are suffering from a disease(s) at the time of purchasing it. This is because people with pre-existing diseases are more likely to make claim(s) thereby increasing the liability for the insurance company.
    • Body Mass Index: If you have a higher Body Mass Index than normal, then you will be more prone to health issues and hence, will be required to pay higher health insurance premiums for SBI Health Insurance plans.
