Oriental Car Insurance Claim
When a car insurance policyholder raises a request for compensation with the insurance company for the losses suffered due to his/her insured car, it is known as a car insurance claim. A policyholder can make any number of claims during the policy period subject to the sum assured mentioned in the policy document.
Oriental General Insurance offers an easy and hassle-free claim settlement process for its policyholders. A claim for a car insurance policy can be raised with Oriental General Insurance both online as well as offline by visiting its branch. A claim can be of two types - cashless claim and reimbursement claim. When a policyholder visits a garage a part of the authorised network of Oriental General Insurance, then the entire repair cost of the insured’s car is paid by the insurance claim thus, resulting in a cashless claim. Similarly, when a policyholder visits a garage outside the Oriental authorised network, then the policyholder has to pay the repair cost which the insurance company reimburses later.
Claim settlement Ratio of Oriental Car Insurance
An insurance company's claim settlement ratio or CSR indicates the rate at which they settle claims. It is the ratio of the total claims received in a year to the total number of claims settled in a year. Oriental Car Insurance has a claim settlement ratio of 94%.
Types of Oriental Car Insurance Claim Settlement
Oriental Car Insurance Company offers two types of claim settlement:
Reimbursement Claim Settlement
For a reimbursement claim settlement, Oriental Car Insurance holders must inform the insurance office immediately after identifying that their car has been damaged, in an accident, or stolen. If they have agreed to a reimbursement claim settlement at the time of signing the insurance policy, they must pay for the repairs by themselves and save the receipts to submit for claim settlement, later.
For reimbursement claim settlement, policyholders may repair their car in any garage they wish to. While filing the claim, one must produce all the payment receipts. The insurance company verifies the validity of these receipts and pays the claim amount for the services covered by the insurance policy document.
The following documents are required for the Oriental Car Insurance reimbursement settlement.
- Copy of the claim intimation, policy, and premium receipt.
- FIR or Police Panchanama (if applicable).
- Driving license (original and copy).
- Registration Certificate (original and copy).
- Estimate or repairs.
- Cash memos and final bill of repairs.
- Verification of Road Tax.
Cashless Claim Settlement
A cashless claim settlement is hassle-free and saves a lot of time for policyholders. When you opt for an Oriental Insurance Company cashless claim settlement, the first step is to inform the insurance company about the nature of damage to their car (accident, fire, theft), depending on the type of their insurance policy. Once this is done, the insurance company representatives may need them to follow certain steps:
- File an FIR with the nearest police station.
- Take the damaged car to one of the Oriental Car Insurance network garages for repair.
- Submit your insurance policy documents at the garage.
- The garage and the insurance company will discuss the nature of the damages and the repair coverage mentioned in your policy documents.
- Upon thorough investigation of the damages and the related documents, repair work begins.
- Once the repairs are done, the garage informs the insurance company and the claim is settled between them. The insurance company informs the policyholder about it and the repaired car is handed over.

Common Claim rejection reasons
Following are some common reasons which can result in a claim rejection by the insurance company:
- Your insurance policy had lapsed at the time of the accident
- Unnecessary delay in reporting to the insurance company about the accident
- You do not have a valid driving licence
- You were driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs
- You have been using the car to carry out illegal activities
- You had not intimated the insurer before carrying out any repairs
- You had bought the policy in someone else’s name.
Oriental No Claim Bonus
If someone owns a car insurance policy of Oriental Insurance and makes no claim in a policy year, then a No Claim Bonus (NCB) is offered at the time of policy renewal by the insurance company. The NCB is a discount which is to be applied on the next year’s car insurance policy premium. Every policyholder should be aware of this benefit, so he or she can make the best out of it by not making any claim. The NCB ranges between 20% to 50%, which accumulates with every claim-free year and with the same percentage the premium of the next year policy reduces.
When it comes to No Claim Bonus, it is applicable only on the premium of own-damage premium component of a comprehensive car insurance plan at the time of car insurance policy renewal. Therefore, it is very necessary for you to renew your policy timely to continue to hold and avail this NCB benefit. A unique thing about this benefit is that despite being offered with a car insurance plan, it is associated to policyholders and not the vehicle, hence, you can retain this bonus by transferring it to your new car or new insurance plan. If you do not want to lose this benefit even after making a claim, then you will have to buy an add-on cover to protect this benefit.
