What is Fixed Daily Allowance?
Fixed Daily Allowance is an add-on. If you opt for it then the insurer offers you get a daily allowance of Rs. 500 or Rs. 1,000 per day from the insurer to meet the cost of hiring a car when your car is out for repairs.
Are the roadside assistance services available 24*7?
Yes, Cholamandalam offers roadside assistance services including fuel delivery and battery top-up along with car breakdown assistance including fixing a flat tyre or on-site repair round the clock.
How much premium would I have to pay for a comprehensive car insurance policy purchased from Cholamandalam?
The premium of your car insurance policy depends on a number of factors such as: Insured Declared Value (IDV) of Your Vehicle Age of The Insured Car Voluntary and Involuntary Deductibles Add-on Covers Purchased
What does the roadside assistance cover offers?
The roadside assistance is a 24*7 service offered to the policyholders by Cholamandalam in event of breakdown of the car. The service includes fuel delivery, battery top-up, car breakdown assistance such as fixing a flat tyre and on-site repair as well. To note, that it is offered as an add-on cover and hence, it is chargeable.
How much daily allowance would I get if my car is out for repairs?
Cholamandalam will provide your Rs. 500 or Rs. 1,000 (depending upon the additional premium) to meet commute expenses in case your car is out for repairs.
Is there any personal accident cover for co-passengers?
Yes, there is an optional personal accident cover of Rs 2 lakh for co-passengers offered by Cholamandalam.
What is NCB?
No Claim Bonus (NCB) is a discount offered on the premiums for claim-free policy tenures. The discount starts at 20% and can go up to 50% for a maximum of 5 claim-free years.
Does Cholamandalam offer long-term third party car insurance policy?
Yes, Cholamandalam MS General Insurance does offer long-term third liability with validity tenures of more than 1 year in addition to the 1-year third party cover. New car owners are mandatorily required to purchase a car insurance policy valid for 3 years.
How much compensation is provided for third party liabilities?
The company provides limited/unlimited (depending upon the type of injury) liability cover for injury/death of a third party. In such cases, the amount of compensation is decided by a court of law.
Does the third party liability policy cover contractual liabilities?
No, contractual liabilities (liabilities assumed on behalf of another party as a result of a contractual agreement) are not covered under a third party car insurance policy.
What happens in case someone commits suicide in front of my car?
No compensation is offered to the third party in case of suicide or injuries caused due to an attempt of suicide.
What should I do after an accident?
Immediately seek medical aid after an accident if it has resulted in a serious injury/death of any person. Post seeking medical help, inform Cholamandalam about the accident by calling at 1800-208-5544 and initiate the claim process.
Can I withdraw a registered claim?
Yes, you can withdraw a registered claim. For this, visit Cholamandalam’s general insurance website, click on the ‘Claims’ tab and select the ‘Motor Claims’ option. Login with your credentials. Click on the ‘Withdraw My Claim’ tab and enter the policy number/claim number/vehicle number/contract number.
From where can I download a copy of the claim documents?
You can download a copy of the filed claim documents such as the claim form and liability computation, etc. by selecting selecting the ‘Motor Claims’ option and clicking on the ‘Download Claim Documents’ option on the Cholamandalam’s general insurance website.
Is there any difference in the claim amount of cashless and reimbursement settlement method?
No, there is no difference in the claim amount. The difference is only in the reimbursement method.
How much NCB discount will be transferred if I change my existing insurer to Cholamandalam?
You will enjoy the entire NCB discount of your existing insurer when you purchase a Cholamandalam Car Insurance policy.
What is Sunset Clause?
Sunset Clause is a clause which enables the policyholder to file claims and also allows the insurer to settle the raised claims even after the expiration of the motor insurance policy. The Sunset Clause is valid only for a limited period. For example, if the clause is of 2 years, the claims can be made/settled for 2 more years after expiry of the policy. To get the ‘Sunset Clause’ in your policy document you need to pay an additional premium.
What if I miss the renewal deadline?
It is advisable to get your policy renewed before or by its expiry. However, if you have missed the expiry deadline, you can still get it renewed within a 90 days window post the expiry after a proper inspection of your car. Please note that a car insurance policy cannot be renewed after the 90-days window, only a new insurance policy can be issued for your car.
How much the Cholamandalam zero depreciation add-on costs?
The cost of zero depreciation add-on cover depends on the sum insured and the age of the car. Also, irrespective of the cost, the company is liable to pay only a maximum of Rs 20,000 per part for cars not older than 5 years.
Is the zero depreciation add-on cover applicable in case of total loss/theft of the insured vehicle?
No, the zero depreciation add-on cover is not applicable in case of total loss/theft of the insured vehicle. You must have the Invoice Cover add-on to get full showroom price of the vehicle in case of total loss or theft.
Are engine parts covered the zero depreciation add-on?
No, the zero depreciation add-on cover does not offer protection for engine damage. To safeguard your car’s engine against losses/damages, you need to opt for the Engine Cover add-on.
