    Third Party

Why is third-party insurance mandatory according to law?

In any case of an accident, it is very important to cover the third-party (or victim). However, teaming it up with comprehensive insurance would just make the premium amount go higher, thereby discouraging most applicants. Hence, third-party insurance is always a standalone option to abide by the law.

Why is the third-party from UIIC is better than most others?

Basic third-party insurance from United India even covers driver/owner in an event of an accident. Hence, if there is an accident where the third party and the insured party have sustained injuries, the insurance would cover for both.

How to calculate the premium for the insurance?

To know the premium of UIIC motor insurance policy, visit our website www.insurancedekho.com and enter the required details to get quotes.

What is the first thing I should do after an accident?

The first thing that needs to be done is to inform the local police and lodge an FIR. The copy of FIR is very important for the claim process. Following this, if the victim needs medical attention, get to a hospital and inform the nearest UIIC insurance office.

Does the third-party insurance cover mechanical and electrical damages of the car/motorcycle?

No. The third-party insurance will not cover for damaged car or motorcycle, be it minor or major. Since it covers basics as per law, covering for everything is not be feasible.

    Comprehensive

Can I file a claim if my car has caught fire and burnt completely in an accident?

Yes, the Comprehensive insurance from UIIC covers for any damages sustained on the vehicle. The damaged car will be towed to a garage for a quote on expenses to get it repaired.

I have an occupant in the car at the time of the accident. Can I file a claim for the occupant?

A comprehensive insurance covers for occupants in the vehicle too. In case there is an unnamed occupant who has sustained an injury in an accident, the insured can apply for his/her claim too.

Can I transfer the insurance if I transfer ownership of my vehicle to someone else?

Yes, this is possible. However, the transfer of insurance needs to be done within 14 days from the actual date of transfer of ownership. Failing to do so, the transfer will not be possible.

Can I substitute my present insured car with another car?

The insurance holder can substitute an insured car with another car. But the substitution of car may lead to changes in the premium amount since the insurance on two cars will not be the same. Following the change in the premium amount, the present model and make will be substituted.

If I lose both my limbs in an accident, how much claim can I file for?

In case you have sustained a heavy injury like loss of both limbs, you will be entitled to 100% cover. However, in case of loss of one limb from an accident, there would be 50% cover of the amount.

    Zero Depreciation

Can I get a Zero Depreciation cover for my car which is more than five years old but is in brand new condition?

No. Zero Depreciation add-on cannot be availed along with insurance when the car is more than 5 years old, irrespective of its condition.

How much premium will I need to pay for Zero Depreciation insurance add-on?

Nothing can be said about the amount of premium for adding Zero Depreciation until it is calculated by official means. But in general cases, budget-friendly cars will attract lower amount while expenses cars attract higher rates.

Will Zero Depreciation add on replace my car if it has been in an accident?

It depends on the condition of any concerned vehicle following an accident and also on the company’s final decision. In most cases, if condition demands a replacement, it will be reimbursed, otherwise, repair costs will be provided, of course, without deducting the depreciation.

If I get a complete reimbursement, will it cover the entire cost of the new car?

Not the same as the cost of a new car, but if everything goes well and the company is satisfied, claim amount will be sanctioned without subtraction of any depreciation.

Why should I choose Zero Depreciation add-on for my new car?

Zero Depreciation is a no-nonsense kind of add-on for any existing insurance scheme. A new car is always prone to risks, especially if it is a new first-time buyer or new driver. Under such circumstances, the feasibility of Zero Depreciation add-on is more lucrative to the insured rather than the insurer.

    Claim

What kind of damages does UIIC motor insurance cover?

Will UIIC motor insurance cover if the damage has happened due to road rash between two other reckless drivers?

If the accident and damage has happened due to other drivers on the road, a comprehensive insurance policy will cover it. However, everything about that particular incident needs to be mentioned while filing a claim.

How does the claim process work?

After informing UIIC management about the accident, you can take the vehicle for repair as directed by the surveyor. You might need to pay the entire cost initially, this cost is later reimbursed by United India as per the claim guidelines.

Will I need to get my vehicle inspected?

Yes, getting the vehicle inspected by a company-employed surveyor is mandatory. Failure to do so will lead to rejection of claim at the time of documentation and filing.

Do I need to file an FIR after the accident or theft has happened?

Yes, filing an FIR with any nearest police station is an absolutely must as it will be needed throughout the claim process, especially during documentation post-survey.throughout the claim process, especially during documentation post-survey.

    Renewal

What is the difference between renewing a car insurance policy with the ‘Quick Renew’ and standard ‘Renew’ feature?

The ‘Quick Renew’ feature offered by United India is only available for car insurance policies, whereas the ‘Renew’ feature is a standard renewal option that is applicable to all general insurance products. Both the methods are entirely hassle-free while the Quick Renew option requires much fewer details which saves time as well.

How much renewal fee do I need to pay?

The car insurance renewal fee is based on the type of car insurance policy purchased, add-on covers and deductibles opted either it is compulsory or voluntary. The entire renewal fee will be displayed while renewing the car insurance policy.

If the renewal fee gets deducted but renewal confirmation is not received, then what should I do?

In situations like a failed policy renewal process or no policy renewal confirmation received even after the fee is deducted, you should get in touch with the United India Insurance’s customer care service at 1800-425-333-33 and check the renewal status of your car insurance policy. You can also drop an email stating your query at customercare@uiic.co.in.

How can I verify my car insurance renewal payment status?

To verify the payment status, you should visit the United India homepage and scroll down to the ‘e-Services’ menu. Click on the ‘Verify Payment Status’ tab, enter the transaction ID, current policy number or the previous policy number and click on ‘Search’. All the details related to your policy including the payment process will be displayed on the next page.

What is the deadline for renewing my car insurance policy?

You should renew your car insurance policy before its expiry date to continue to enjoy its benefits. However, in case you have missed the car insurance policy renewal deadline, you can still get it renewed within 90 days of the expiry date after getting your car inspected. This 90 days period is known as the grace period. However, if you fail to renew your car insurance plan even in the grace period, then you can not renew it later and it will get lapsed and you will have to purchase a new insurance policy for your car.
