Zuno Car Insurance Add on Covers

A standard comprehensive car insurance plan may at times, fall short of offering you claim amounts that you would be expecting. The primary reason behind this is that the comprehensive plan does not cover a few things such as depreciation and a few parts of your vehicle. There comes the role of add-on covers.

Zuno - 9 Important Add-on Covers For Your Car Insurance Policy

Zuno General Insurance offers a vast range of add-on covers along with its package (comprehensive) car insurance policy. Let us understand each one of them in brief.

1. Depreciation Protect

Generally known as zero depreciation add-on, the Depreciation Protect cover offered by Zuno General Insurance waives off the liability of depreciation from the policyholder. As a result, the policyholder enjoy higher claim amounts. This add-on cover is available for vehicles up to 7 years of age and only 2 claims are permissible in a policy tenure. In order to enjoy complete benefits of this cover, it is recommended that the damaged vehicle is repaired in an authorised garage. This is because, the company deducts 10% of the claim amount if the vehicle is repaired in a garage not authorised by the company.

2. Engine Protect

Electrical/mechanical wear and tear is not covered under the standard package policy. However, you can get this covered with the Engine Protect add-on. It covers all types of damages caused due to water ingression or oil perils in the engine or gearbox. Only 1 claim is permissible in a policy period. The best part is that the company also compensates for the labour charges incurred to repair/replace the covered parts.

3. No Claim Bonus Protect

As the name suggests, the NCB Protect add-on cover helps you to retain the existing NCB discount even after 2 claims are filed in a policy tenure. However, one must make sure that the policy is renewed within 90 days of expiry in order to enjoy the benefits of this cover.

4. Invoice Value Protect

In consideration of payment of an additional premium the company will pay the full listed showroom price of the vehicle irrespective of the IDV mentioned in the policy document. The cover is applicable in case of constructive total loss, total loss and theft of the vehicle as well. The cover is only for cars up to 3 years of age.

5. Key and Lock Protect

Having this add-on cover will get you indemnified for the procurement/repair of new key/lock in case the existing one is lost/damaged. In order to get the benefits of this cover during claim settlement, the policyholder must ensure that to lodge an FIR within 48 hours of the event.

6. Consumable Expenses Protect

As per this add-on cover, if the vehicle sustains damage in an accident/or another cause mentioned in the policy then Zuno will indemnify the cost of repair/replacement of damaged consumables. Here are a few consumables falling under the add-on coverage, engine oil, brake oil, AC refrigerant, power steering oil battery electrolyte, gearbox oil, coolant, AC gas oil, windshield washer fluid, radiator coolant, nut & bolt, screw, oil filter, fuel filter, bearings, washers, etc.

7. Mandatory Deduction Protect

Purchase of this add-on cover will ensure that the company will waiver the compulsory deductibles as stated in the policy. Meaning, that Zuno will indemnify the cost incurred by the policyholder towards bearing the compulsory deductibles at the time of claim settlement or if mentioned otherwise in the policy. This add-on cover is available for cars less than 5 years old and is applicable once during the tenure of the policy.

8. Personal Belonging Protect

In case the policyholder or family members of the policyholder suffer loss/damage to their personal belongings due to insured events or circumstances then Zuno will pay for the loss or damage of the same. Compensation for laptop/tablets/mobile phones are only in case of theft from the locked insured car. However, it must be kept in mind that items that are connected to trade and business and claims not filed within 7 days of the incident will not be compensated for. The company will compensate for such losses up to a maximum of Rs.1,00,000 during the tenure of the policy. Policyholders will have to pay Rs.250 for each claim under this add-on cover.

9. Road Side Assistance

Zuno, against the payment of additional premium will provide Road Side Assistance (RSA) in cases of

  • Mechanical and electrical breakdown of the vehicle in a public road
  • Immobilization due to an accident or a road mishap
  • Flat tyre
  • Dead Battery
  • Locked-in lost/misplaced vehicle keys
  • Incorrect/contaminated or shortage of fuel leading to immobilization of the vehicle
