New India Assurance General Insurance has gained popularity for its seamless claim settlement ratio of 89.60% in the financial year 2019-2020. It has successfully developed a hassle-free claim settlement procedure through digitalization.

New India Assurance has both online and offline procedures for settling claims of its policyholders. Active customer assistance is provided to assist the policyholders at any hour of the day. The claim settlement procedures have been elaborately discussed below.

List of Documents Required During Claim Settlement

Following documents are required at the time of settling a bike insurance claim.

  • Duly filled and signed claim form
  • Self-attested copy of Registration Certificate (RC)
  • Driving license of the person driving at the time of the accident

How to Make New India Cashless Bike Insurance Claim?

New India Assurance General Insurance has formulated simple steps to settle the claims of the policyholders:

Step 1: Contact the insurer

You should notify the claim team of New India Assurance General Insurance immediately after the accident, damage or theft of the insured’s bike. You can get in touch with the insurer by dialling its toll-free number 1800-209-1415 or by visiting the nearest office. You can even opt for online “claim intimation” through its official website.

Step 2: Register Claim

A claim assistant of the insurance company contacts you after the intimation and issues a claim form. The policyholder should provide the following details to the claim assistant.

  • The policy number
  • Date, time and location of the incident, accident or theft
  • The present location of the insured’s bike and all other related details.

The claim assistant provides the policyholder with a claim registration number which is to be saved for future reference. The policyholder should collect or download the claim form at this point.

Step 3: Survey of Damages

A company surveyor is appointed to assess the extent of the damages caused to the bike during the accident. The surveyor visits the site for verification. In the case of third party property damage, the policyholder should provide its vehicle registration number. One can provide contact details of witnesses as proof. The surveyor estimates the cost of repair and collects the duly filled claim form, policy documents and proves of the incident.

Step 4: Claim Settlement

After the final verification of the surveyor, the insurance company confirms its liabilities. The insured’s bike can be moved to the nearest network garage. If the bike is in immovable condition, the insurer provides a towing charge up to Rs. 300 to move the bike from the accident site to the network garage. After the repair, the insurer pays off the expenses of repair of the insured’s bike to the garage. The claim amount is calculated factorizing the depreciation and deductibles.

How To Make New India Reimbursement Bike Insurance Claim?

The policyholder can register a reimbursement claim if he cannot find a network garage nearby or wish to repair it in any other garage. A reimbursement claim ensures compensation for the repair expenses. The reimbursement claim procedure has been discussed below:

Step 1: Contact New India Assurance General Insurance

You should notify the claim team of New India Assurance General Insurance within 24 hours of the accident, damage or theft of the insured’s bike. You can contact the insurer by dialling its toll-free number 1800-209-1415 or by visiting the nearest office.

Step 2: Register A Claim

The claim assistant calls you back after the intimation. You have to inform the executive about the policy number and details about the accident. You receive a unique claim reference number from the claim assistant.

Step 3: Survey of the Damages Incurred

A surveyor is sent by the insurer to check the condition of the bike before it is sent for repairs. The surveyor prepares an estimate of the cost of repair. The policyholder has to submit the documents, duly filled claim form and the proves to the surveyor.

Step 4: Repair and Reimbursement

After the approval from the surveyor, the policyholder can send the bike to his desired garage. Submit the bills and receipts of repair along with policy documents to the insurer to receive the reimbursement. The company checks the details and finally disburses the claim amount taking into account all the deductibles and depreciation.

Common New India Bike Insurance Claim Rejection Reasons

New India Assurance General Insurance has a set of specific conditions for the approval of the claim. The claim is rejected by the insurance company under the following circumstances:

  • Registration of a fraud Claim
  • Claiming wrong coverage amount
  • Misinterpretation of facts
  • Improper functioning of the vehicle parts
  • Driving without license
  • Intoxication
  • Lack of details required to process the claim
  • Delay in intimation about the mishap to the insurer
  • Act of negligence

New India No Claim Bonus

When you purchase an own-damage cover from New India for your two-wheeler you become eligible to receive the No Claim Bonus. The NCB is a reward that is given by the insurance provider for a claim-free year. The reward is cumulative in nature and goes up to 50 per cent in the fifth consecutive year. Keep in mind, any claim you make no matter how minor will disable the No Claim Bonus. Therefore, it is advised that every policyholder refrain from filing a claim unless the damage caused due to the mishap is significant.

Moreover, it is also advised that the policyholder maintain timely renewal of the insurance policy to ensure the accumulated NCB remains intact. If the policyholder fails to do so the NCB will be lost. To avoid such situations, insurance companies offer a grace period of 90 days after the expiry date. Any delays after this date, however, leads to the cancellation of the insurance policy and the NCB with it. A benefit of the NCB is if you choose to transfer to a different insurance provider or sell your two-wheeler to purchase another one the NCB will be transferred. This is because the reward is given to the policyholder for safe driving and hence, is not attached to any particular two-wheeler.
