Protect Yourself From Coronavirus - Since the first case of coronavirus (COVID-19) emerged in China’s Wuhan, it has spread rapidly across the world. With nearly 5.8 million cases around the world, the coronavirus has brought the world to a standstill. This is why it becomes important to take certain precautions to ensure safety from the coronavirus.
Simple precautions can reduce your chances of being infected with the coronavirus (COVID-19) while at home during the lockdown, as directed by The Centres for Disease Control and Prevention, are listed below:
1. Wash Your Hands Frequently
You must wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds especially after you visit a public place. Use an alcohol-based sanitizer (at least 60% alcohol content) if soap and water are not available.
Cover all the surfaces of your hands (fingertips, palm, back, under the nails) and rub your hands until dry. Also, remind yourself constantly not to touch eyes, nose, and mouth with unwashed hands.

2. Avoid Close Contact
Even with sick people inside your home, try maintaining a distance of at least 6 feet or more if possible. Also, follow hygienic practices like not sharing towels, keeping separately the utensils of the infected person, wearing a mask while taking care of the sick person, and consulting a doctor.
3. Cover Your Face When Around Sick People
We know that the best way to fight the virus is to avoid being exposed to it. You can do this by covering your face with a mask even if you are not feeling sick. However, a cloth face cover is not recommended for children aged below 2 years or anyone who is facing difficulty in breathing.
Keep yourself at a distance of around 6 feet from people who are sick or in case you are feeling sick.
4. Cover Your Face While Coughing Or Sneezing
If the infected person is living under the same roof with other family members, then it is even more important to take necessary precautions. And covering your face with a tissue while sneezing or coughing is one of them.
Also, throwing the tissue in a closed dustbin is important. Plus, wash your hands after.
5. Clean And Disinfect Your House
Make sure you daily clean and disinfect frequently used surfaces. These include toilet, faucet, doorknobs, keyboard, phone, handles, desk, remote, sinks, and so on.
Use soap and water before disinfecting them. Then use the most common EPA registered household disinfectants for cleaning.
Much has been said about taking necessary precautions while at home during the coronavirus outbreak. And we know where it may land us if we don’t follow them. Think it this way that you are still healthy because you followed those instructions.
So, stay informed, stay indoors, stay healthy!
