Acko Health Insurance Premium Calculation

Premium in health insurance is the amount that the insured individual pays to the insurance company to avail health insurance coverage. The frequency after which you will be required to pay the required premium depends on the policy term you chose. For instance, if you have purchased a health insurance policy for a term of 1 year, then you will be required to pay health insurance premium on an annual basis. You can also choose policy terms of 2 years or 3 years as well if the policy has that option. There are several factors on which premium for health insurance plans offered by Acko General Insurance depend. These are explained below:

  • Age: The more you age, the more premium you will be required to pay for a health insurance plan offered by Acko General Insurance. This is because you are more prone to illnesses and diseases when in later stages of life due to a weaker immune system. So, to save on health insurance premiums and get greater coverage, it is recommended to purchase a health insurance policy when young.
  • Add-On Covers: Another factor on which your health insurance premium depends is the add-on on the cover(s) you opt for. Add-on covers are extra coverage features that you can opt for voluntarily along with your base health insurance plan to avail greater benefits. The add-on covers come at an extra premium and hence it will cost you more if you include add-on benefits under your health insurance plans offered by Acko General Insurance.
  • Co-Payment Clause: Co-payment is the percentage of the claim amount that the insured individual has to pay from his/her own pocket for the treatment. You can reduce the premium for health insurance plans offered by Acko General Insurance by opting for a co-payment option. As it reduces the liability of the insurance company, therefore they require a lesser premium to be paid.
  • Sum Insured Chosen: Sum insured in health insurance is the maximum amount that the insurance company covers you for in case of a medical emergency. A higher sum insured means higher coverage and hence a higher premium. So, if you choose a health insurance policy offered by Acko General Insurance that has a higher sum insured amount, then you will be required to pay a higher premium as the liability for the insurance company is higher, and vice versa.
  • Body Mass Index (BMI): Body Mass Index (BMI) is the ratio of your height and weight. If your BMI is unhealthy, then there are higher chances of you being affected by several illnesses and diseases such as obesity, diabetes, heart ailments, etc. And hence, you will be required to pay a higher health insurance premium as you will require extra coverage. But if your Body Mass Index is normal, then you will be charged a lesser health insurance premium comparatively.
