The following are the different ways of intimating, filing and settling your claims from the company -

1. Claim Intimation Process

A policyholder can intimate or inform the Star Health Insurance Company about claiming their insurance or sum insured amount in the following manner -

  • A policyholder can inform Star Health Insurance of requesting their claim for a planned treatment at least 24 hours prior to hospitalization.
  • For emergency treatment, the claim intimation must be done within the first 24 hours after hospitalization.
  • A policyholder can email the insurance company at support@starhealth.in
  • You can also register your claim online by visiting the official website of the insurance provider at www.starhealth.in
  • You may also call the insurance company’s toll-free number at 1800 425 5522 to intimate this company
  • You can also visit the nearest branch of the Star Health Insurance Company and request to file a claim

2. Details Required For Registering or Intimation of Claim

An insurance holder of the Star Health Insurance Company, you have to provide the insurance company with the following details to register your claim and intimate the company as well -

  • Policyholder’s Name
  • Contact Number
  • Relationship with the policyholder or the patient
  • E-mail address
  • Policy Number
  • Nominee’s Name
  • Life Insured’s Name
  • Reason for making the claim
  • Hospital admission date
  • Hospital Type: whether network or non-network
  • State or Union Territory

3. Documents Required For Filing Claim or Reimbursement

The following are the list of documents that you need to submit in order to successfully file a reimbursement claim under this insurance company -

  • Duly filled in Claims Form including address, contact number and email address
  • Original Bills, receipts and discharge certificate from the hospital
  • Pharmacy bills
  • Pathology test reports
  • Medical practitioner’s report
  • Surgeon’s bill (if any)
  • Self-declaration/MLC/FIR in case of an accident
  • Treating doctor’s certificate
  • NEFT and KYC details

These documents must be submitted within 15 days after being discharged from the hospital. The post-hospitalization claims should be submitted with the mentioned post-hospitalization period as per the insurance company. It should be noted that all the supporting documents mentioned above other than the policyholder’s Health Card must be submitted in original.

4. Claim Settlement

After the intimation and submission of your claims form along with the supporting documents, the insurance company will assess and verify your details and authorize a claim payment. The policyholder will receive the reimbursement after 15 days of completing the entire process.

5. Cashless Claim

A cashless claim is part of the cashless claim benefit offered by the Star Health Insurance Company where all kinds of medical expenses towards consultation, diagnosis, and hospitalization charges are directly transferred to the hospital by your health insurance provider. Star Health Insurance Company offers this facility to its policyholder and in case of a cashless claim reimbursement, the policyholders need to follow the following procedures -

The cashless claim intimation process is as follows -

  • It can be done via the network hospital.
  • Intimation can be also be made by calling the insurance company at 1800 425 2255 or at 1800 102 4477
  • You can also email the insurance provider at support@starhealth.in

7. Documents Required For Cashless Claim Settlement

The following are the supporting documents that need to be submitted by the policyholder while filing a cashless claim settlement -

  • Health Card
  • Doctor’s prescriptions
  • Discharge summary
  • Test reports
  • Pharmacy bills
  • MLC/FIR in case of an accident
  • KYC documents

8. Cashless Claim Settlement

Once you have made your intimation to the insurance provider, the Star Health Insurance provider needs to see a copy of your Health Card for identification at the hospital reception. Once your pre and post hospitalisation reports pertaining to consultation, diagnosis, and treatment have been submitted, the network hospitals will verify and assess the same. Your doctors will verify the verity of all submitted documents before processing the claim to Star Health Insurance company. After being discharged, the hospital will send all claim-related documents to the company and the authorized amount will be directly paid to the health institution by the insurance provider.
