Home Hygiene and Cleaning Tips - India is about to enter lockdown 4.0 from May 18. We are trying to follow social distancing practice by keeping ourselves indoors as much as possible.
But is it enough? Are we safe inside our homes?
No. virus can enter our house in many ways. This is why, you need to be a little extra cautious while even at home during the coronavirus outbreak to keep yourself and your family safe by keeping your surroundings clean.
Here are some measures that you should follow to clean and disinfect your house:
1. Keep Yourself Clean
The most important thing to stay away from the highly infectious coronavirus is to keep yourself clean. Wash your hands frequently with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. If soap and water are not available, then use hand sanitizer (60% alcohol).
Wash hands before and after eating, using the washroom, taking delivery orders, doing laundry, cooking meals, and so on.
2. Frequently Wash Towels, Kitchen Napkins, Bedsheets
Many people may not be habitual to washing bed sheets, napkins used in the kitchen, or towels. But the habit should not be continued at least during the lockdown.
Try changing bed sheets every alternative day if not every day and wash towels and kitchen napkins after every use.
3. Dispose Of The Waste In A Smart Way
Keep the dustbins covered and try to manage wet waste and dry waste in separate bins. Try using organic waste as fertilizers for plants.
4. Sterilize Children’s Toys, Bottles
Contrary to what had been said earlier, children are at an equal risk of catching the virus. So, it is better to keep their belongings disinfected. These may include bottles, utensils, toys, etc.

5. Keep Your Pets Clean
If you own a cat or a dog, then consider bathing it on a daily basis. Cages and tanks should be cleaned too keeping in mind hygiene. Pets and their homes should be cleaned frequently so that possible infection is avoided.
So, do it in time and don’t wait for that foul smell to validate that it is dirty and now needs a wash.
6. Take Care Of Hygiene While Cooking Food
It has not been confirmed if the virus spreads via food and water as well. But you must handle food with extra care as a preventive measure. Use clean utensils, cook food at high temperatures, and don’t consume expired food items.
