Step 1: Get the details of the car that they are trying to look up such as their name of the owner, location of the accident, registration number and address etc.

Step 2: Log in to the IIB website and provide the required information. Make sure to enter the fields marked with a *, they are mandatory.

Step 3: If you cannot find the details with the information you provided you can also enter their vehicle engine number or its chassis number.

Things to Keep in Mind When Using the IIB Portal

  • Ensure you enter the registration number of the other vehicle without any special numbers.
  • In case you cannot find the information you are looking for, keep in mind, it takes two months for information to be available on the portal after submission.
  • Insurance holders only submit their engine and chassis number if the car is new.
  • All the information available on the database is from 1 April 2010.
  • In case you are still unable to procure the required details visit your nearest RTO to find the information.
  • You can search only a maximum of three times for a particular number or email address.

Step 1: Go to the website of VAHAN e-Service and select the ‘Know Your Vehicle Details’ from the topmost option from the available tabs.

Step 2: Enter the registration number of your car along with the verification code to proceed.

Step 3: Next select the ‘Search Vehicle’ option.

Step 4: The details of your insurance policy along with the expiry date will be visible on the screen. You can check and make sure that you have not passed your renewal date.
