Wondering why the driving license and vehicle insurance has been extended again. Read this article to know everything about it.

In the wake of the pandemic, most countries including India went into lockdown or some form of restricted movement in an attempt to control the spread of the disease. Due to this many people have not used their cars for months. Earlier in the year, the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways had extended the validity of both driving license and vehicle insurance for a few months. Recently that date was extended yet again till December 30th, 2020.

Why was the Date Extended?

According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways, this decision for extending the date was done to help people who are facing difficulties due to the circumstances brought by the pandemic. They have also asked the states to apply the same in their regions. All this has been done in the hope of sparing common people difficulties at such times. The essential workers especially require this so their work can go on without any inconveniences.

Should You Still Renew Your Car Insurance?

Even though most of our cars may be parked or used infrequently they are not entirely out of harm’s way. To make sure that the car is protected make sure you have car insurance or car insurance renewal. Events such as natural or manmade calamities can come without any notice. In such situations having car insurance will give you compensation for the same. Having comprehensive car insurance will take care of both own-damage costs and third party liabilities in case of such a mishap. Moreover, with add-on covers such as the engine cover and tyre cover, you can get coverage for aspects that are otherwise not covered by standard car insurance.
