About HDFC ERGO Arogya Sanjeevani Health Insurance

Arogya Sanjeevani Policy offered by HDFC Ergo General Insurance is a recently launched indemnity-based medical insurance policy that covers you and your family against unforeseen medical expenses. Developed by IRDAI, the plan provides basic health cover to all Indians and even NRIs. The sum insured under the policy is as low as Rs. 1 Lakh and can go up to a maximum of Rs. 5 Lakh. The policy can be purchased on an individual or family floater basis. Depending on the requirements, you can cover yourself, your spouse, kids, parents, and parents-in-law under a single policy. Anyone who is aged between 3 months and 65 years can take advantage of this policy. Since there is a 5% of co-payment applicable to all admissible claims, the premiums for this policy are kept low.

The Arogya Sanjeevani Policy offered by HDFC Ergo General Insurance provides many benefits to the policyholders. Some of them are the cover for pre and post hospitalisation expenses, road ambulance, cataract treatment, AYUSH treatment, daycare procedures in-patient hospitalisation, and modern treatment like Deep Brain Stimulation, Robotic Surgeries, Oral Chemotherapy, Balloon Sinuplasty, Intra Vitreal Injections. Tax benefits under Section 80D of the Income Tax Act are also available.

  • Expenses incurred on treatment of cataract subject to the sub limits

  • Dental treatment & plastic surgery due to a disease or injury
  • Pre-hospitalisation & post-hospitalisation expenses for up to 30 and 60 days
  • Road ambulance up to a maximum of Rs.2000/- per hospitalisation

What's Not Included

  • Injuries or illnesses that are caused due to wars are not covered
  • Venereal or Sexually Transmitted Diseases are not covered
  • Injuries due to accidents encountered while participating in adventure sports
  • Treatment of obesity and cosmetic surgery is not included in the policy
  • Self-inflicted injuries are not included in the coverage benefits under the policy
  • No cover is available for accidents while participating in defence services
