Road trips are one of the best ways of refreshing oneself from our busy and hectic work schedules. However, there are certain documents that you must carry with you on a road trip in order to enjoy the fun time to the fullest. In the absence of these documents, you might get stopped at any time for general inspections on the highways. Thus, you should carry all the necessary documents for a road trip whenever you plan to go out on one.

The Motor Laws of our country state that every car should have specific documents while travelling on public roads. When on a road trip, there is a high chance of the police asking you for the car’s documents. Some of the documents to keep handy during a road trip are:

1. Registration Certificate: The most important document for a vehicle is its registration certificate, i.e, RC. It is a legal document that proves that the vehicle is registered and that it is not stolen. The RC has a lot of details including the registered number of your vehicle, name of vehicle owner, the chassis number of the vehicle, etc.

2. Certificate of Insurance: On a road trip, it is essential to carry a valid car insurance certificate. According to the Motor Vehicle Act, 1988, every car on a public road must be covered under any insurance policy.

3. Driving License of the Driver: Driving license is an essential document to be carried all the time by a driver regardless of a road trip. It is a legal document issued by the RTO ( Regional Transport Office ). Be sure that whoever is going to take a turn to drive is also carrying a driving license.

4.PUC ( Pollution Under Control ) Certificate: A PUC is a document showing that the smoke or gas emitted by the vehicle is meeting the emission standards set by the authority. The PUC is issued by the pollution kiosk in the nearest petrol pumps. If you are caught without a PUC, you can be penalized.
