Purchasing insurance for your two-wheeler is important as it helps you financially in case of mishaps. Read this article to know how to file for an ICICI Lombard bike insurance claim.

Third-party two-wheeler insurance is required under the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988 for all the two-wheelers operating on Indian highways. It covers third-party obligations that may occur as a result of an accident involving the insured two-wheeler. Third-party insurance coverage will not cover the damages to your bike. As a result, you should get comprehensive two-wheeler insurance coverage. It will cover the insured bike's losses or damages in the event of a mishap, such as theft, collision, earthquake, tsunami, riot, and vandalism, in addition to the necessary third-party liabilities.

How To File For ICICI Lombard Bike Insurance Claim?

Before knowing the details of how to file a bike insurance claim, it's important to understand the two sorts of claims:

1. Cashless Claim: Some insurance companies enable policyholders to get their bikes repaired without having to pay upfront. The only stipulation is that the bike is transported to one of their participating garages. Cashless claims are those in which the insurer pays the garage owner directly to have a bike fixed.

2. Reimbursement Claim: If a bike insurance policy does not include cashless benefits, the policyholder is responsible for paying for repairs out of pocket. He or she can, however, submit a claim with the insurance company and be reimbursed for the charges later. Reimbursement claims are those in which the insurer pays the policyholder the approved amount.

How to Make a Claim For Third-Party Insurance?

Step 1: Collect the policy information from the other party and notify the insurer of the third-party claim.

Step 2: Your case will be forwarded to the Motor Insurance Claims Tribunal, which will provide a decision.

Step 3: The tribunal court will establish an amount that should be awarded to you as compensation after hearing from both sides.

Step 4: The compensation sum will be sent to your bank account by the insurer.

How to Make a Claim Under The OD Policy?

Step 1: Contact your insurance company right away.

Step 2: Raise the claim by submitting the relevant papers. File an FIR with the local police station if necessary.

Step 3: The insurance will hire a surveyor to verify the case and assess the damages.

Step 4: If the surveyor believes your claim is genuine, he or she will give the garage permission to begin the repairs.

Step 5:  In the event of a cashless claim, the insurer and the garage will settle the costs directly. The repair cost will be paid to your bank account in the case of a reimbursement claim.

How to File a Claim in The Event of Theft

Step 1: Report the theft of your bike to your insurance company right away.

Step 2: Go to your local police station and file an FIR.

Step 3: File a claim with the insurance company by submitting the necessary documentation.

Step 4: Get a certificate from the cops and give it to the insurance company.

Step 5: The IDV of your bike will be transferred to your bank account by the insurer.
