Not many know of what Cubic Capacity (CC) refers to in bikes or motorcycles, and the impact that it can have on the performance of a two wheeler. However, it is in fact extremely significant.

Are you planning to buy a motorbike? Not sure, what is the most important FACTOR that should be considered? While purchasing a new bike, you should always check its cubic capacity because it directly influences the bike's performance and the experience that you would have as its rider.  Continue reading to understand more about cubic capacity (cc) in detail!

Meaning Of CC In Motorcycles

CC, also known as cubic capacity or cylinder capacity, is an integral part of the engine. It is measured in cubic centimeters and assists in supplying power to the rider. Bikes with higher CC have bigger cylinders and high power to digest air and fuel. As a result, more fuel will burn per stroke and engine power output can be increased significantly. However, it will result in lower fuel efficiency.

How does Engine Capacity Impacts the Performance of CC?

You can calculate various outputs such as torque, power, and mileage through the engine size of the motorbike. If the engine is mounted high on the bike, there will be more room inside the cylinder. In addition, the volume of air and fuel inside is always proportional. However, the engine capacity and fuel consumption are inversely correlated with the power output. Hence, the bike owner must be aware of the fact that a vehicle’s mileage will decrease as fuel consumption rises.

How Does Bike CC Impacts Insurance Premium?

There are many factors that affect insurance premiums, and one of them is cubic capacity. The higher cc will ultimately lead to paying a higher insurance premium. Hence, it is necessary to always look out for the cubic capacity while purchasing a new bike.

In India, there are two varieties of two-wheeler insurance plans available, which are comprehensive insurance and third-party plan. Under a comprehensive bike insurance policy, along with a third-party liability plan, own damage insurance is also provided and is not mandatory to buy. However, in third-party bike insurance policies, only third-party liabilities are covered and are mandatory by the law.

The motorbikes with high CC are expensive and directly affect the insurance premium. Thus, you will have to spend more from your pocket at a premium rate for bikes with high CC. In simple terms, the model and the purchasing price of your two wheeler will influence the premium rate of insurance plans.

Conclusion

Before purchasing a bike it is necessary to understand all the factors that may influence the cost of your purchase. Among all the factors, CC is one of the most crucial factors that you must consider in order to have the best riding experience.
