How Can I Check the Expiry Date of My Bike Online?

When we buy anything we really want, we invest a lot of time and effort into it in addition to the money we pay, and when we buy a bike we really want, we also have to acquire an insurance policy for it. This is due to the need to get bike insurance before using it on the roads.

On the one hand, third-party bike insurance covers losses or harm done to other people's property or people in their care. Contrarily, comprehensive bike insurance offers protection against both losses and damages to one's own vehicle and other parties. All bike insurance plans do, however, have a predetermined expiration date, and you must renew them on time in order to continue receiving their insurance benefits.

What Are The Ways To Check The Bike Insurance Policy Status?

The bike's registration number is immediately connected to the insurance policy when it is purchased. Therefore, the introduction of several internet platforms has greatly eased doing a bike insurance online option using its registration data.

Following are the ways in which an individual can check the bike insurance policy status-

  1. Check the status of your two-wheeler insurance by visiting the official website of the Insurance Information Bureau, which houses IRDA's data repository.
  2. To verify the status of the bike's insurance, go to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways' official website, VAHAN, and input the registration number and a few other data.

There are three main ways to check the bike insurance policy status online -

  • Via Insurance Information Bureau -

The Insurance Information Bureau's website contains all information pertaining to insurance policies (IIB). Follow the instructions below to quickly view the expiration date on this website.

  1. Visit the IIB's website.
  2. Click on "V Seva" on the home page's Quick Links section. A form will be shown.
  3. Fill out the form with the necessary data.
  4. After entering the captcha code, click "Submit".

The page will display information about your insurance, including the date of expiration. Prior to that day, no policies were acquired and they are not shown on the website. The same cell number and mail ID may be used up to three times to access the details.

  • Via VAHAN -

All insurance plans are listed by the Road and Transport Ministry on the VAHAN website. Consequently, you may check the policy's expiration date on this page.

Following are the listed steps to view the expiration date

  1. Visit the webpage for VAHAN e-service.
  2. Go to the menu tab and choose "Know Your Details."
  3. Enter your vehicle's VIN and the verification code on the next page.
  4. Select "Search Vehicle."

The specifics of the insurance will then show up on the screen. The expiration date is displayed in the "Insurance Upto" column.

  • Via Insurance Provider -

Documentation of your insurance policies are kept by your insurance provider. You may examine the information by logging onto the insurer's official website. Depending on the insurer, different actions may be required to examine the policy specifics.

Having said that, the majority of websites only enable you to access the data by inputting your bike's registration number. All of the information about the policy, along with its legitimacy, is contained in the policy document. However, you are not needed to carry your policy documentation with you at all times and you are not required to. In just a few minutes, check online for all the information you need.

On the one hand, third-party bike insurance protects against damages or losses caused to the people or property of other people. Comprehensive bike insurance, on the other hand, provides coverage for both losses and damages to the owner's own vehicle and third parties. However, every bike insurance plan has a set expiration date, and you have to renew it on time in order to keep getting insurance benefits.
