Strong Immune Response Noticed for Single Dose of Pfizer-BioNTech Covid-19 Vaccine

A recent study has revealed that in the case of people previously infected with coronavirus, a single dose of the Pfizer-BioNTech covid-19 vaccine responded quite strongly. The findings of the study indicate the same, irrespective of when the people were Covid-19 infected as well as whether or not they had detectable antibodies against the disease before receiving the preventive.
As per researchers from Bar-Ilan University and Ziv Medical Center in Israel, the real-world evidence with regard to the novel coronavirus vaccine remains scarce even though the clinical trial data are good. In addition, the researchers noted that the response to the covid-19 vaccine among individuals infected with the SARS-CoV-2 virus in the past is still not completely understood.
It must be noted that the latest study was conducted on a cohort of 514 staff members at Ziv Medical Center. The study was published in the journal Eurosurveillance.
17 of the participants were infected with coronavirus disease anytime between 1 and 10 months before receiving the first dose of the coronavirus vaccine.
Antibody levels of the entire cohort were measured before as well as after vaccination to determine response to the BNT162b2 mRNA vaccine by Pfizer-BioNTech. According to the researchers, the response among those previously infected was so effective that discussions over single dose sufficiency have begun.
Professor Michael Edelstein, Bar-Ilan University stated that this finding will help counties make great decisions regarding vaccine policy. The strong response to one dose of the vaccine regardless of time factor is a great news.
Nonetheless, researchers stated that the findings should be confirmed in a larger group of people before giving final conclusions.
