HDFC ERGO Announces Trip Protector Insurance Policy

On 19th February, 2019 HDFC ERGO General Insurance announced the launch of ‘Trip Protector’ insurance policy, taking a lead in the non-life insurance segment in India.
The policy is being offered to HDFC Bank customers on the purchase of hotel or airline ticket bookings done with the use of their individual HDFC Bank credit cards. In case of a cancellation, whether a flight or hotel booking, ‘Trip Protector’ will protect travellers financially against the cancellation cost levied by airlines or hotels. Besides, the ‘Trip Protector’ policy will provide coverage for travellers against cancellation as well, owing to a pre-booked room, in case they refused accommodation on arriving at the hotel due to overbooking. The policy also refunds cost incurred towards visa, over and above flight and hotel booking charges in case of cancellation.
‘Trip Protector’ insurance policy will help travellers purchase refundable or non-refundable tickets as per their requirements. Refundable tickets covered by the policy will prevent the end customer from additional expenses, in the unfortunate event of a cancellation.
This policy, however, is not applicable if the hotels or flights cancel on their own accord. ‘Trip Protector’ policy is an All Risk Policy where ticket cancellation by customers, due to any cause, will be provided cover for.
