Aarogya Setu App Launched by the Government to Track Coronavirus Infections

When almost the entire world has been caught by the cruel claws of the novel Coronavirus, the Government of India has launched a multi-language COVID-19 tracking app today i.e. April 2, 2020, by the name of Aarogya Setu to track Coronavirus Infections.
A location-based coronavirus tracker developed by National Informatics Centre under the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY), the app has been designed to alert users when they will come close to an infected person.
"It is through public participation that we can defeat COVID-19 and this app is an important step in this direction. Aarogya Setu empowers people with better information on the potential risk of infection, self-assessment tools and contextual advice," the government said in a statement.
The main objective of developing the Aarogya Setu app is to reach users and let them be aware of the possible risks. Besides, the app will also give relevant advisories to users related to the containment of COVID-19. The app supports 11 languages, including Hindi and Marathi.
Key Features of Aarogya Setu

The app can inform users about the risk of COVID-19 exposure by using mobile Bluetooth and GPS. The GPS will track the real-time location and Bluetooth will track when you come close to a person with coronavirus infection.

As long as the GPS and Bluetooth will be on, the Aarogya Setu app will keep tracking the vicinity of the user.

If the user possibly comes exposed and wants to share it online, he/she can share it only with the government. No third party will be known to this.

The app is inbuilt with the government’s database of known cases.
How to Use Aarogya Setu
Using this app is quite simple.
- Register through your mobile number
- You will receive an OTP. Enter the OTP
- Enter details like your name, age and gender
- The app will start working on your phone
