The novel coronavirus has given sleepless nights to many since the last few months. While many people worry about getting the infection one day or the other, many find themselves completely hopeless after testing Covid-19 positive. Having knowledge about the symptoms of coronavirus and practicing ways to prevent Covid-19 is advised to all. However, one should also be aware of the day by day progress or coronavirus just to know what to expect, become prepared and not panic.

Whether you have just tested positive for Covid-19 or fear the virus taking over your health someday, make sure you are aware of the progress of coronavirus symptoms and not believe rumors of any kind. Before you start reading about the day to day progress of coronavirus symptoms, note that Covid symptoms vary with people. For instance, while you may experience fatigue and dry cough, others may not. So, do not try to compare what you are experiencing with others. Just focus on strengthening your physical and mental health to triumph over the deadly virus.

Day by Day Progress of Coronavirus Explained

How Coronavirus Symptoms Progress Among Typical Patients?

This is what a Covid-19 patient feels on a day to day basis:

Day 1: This is the first day when the symptoms start cropping up. Most of the people infected with Covid-19 develop a fever and feel tired. Many people also complain of having a dry cough and muscle pain. According to a study from China, about 10% of individuals experience issues of diarrhea or nausea in the days just before the fever starts.

Day 2-4: The fever continues along with the cough.

Day 5: On Day 5, breathing difficulty starts to surface. People who are old aged or suffer from any preexisting condition are more likely to face trouble in breathing.

Day 6: Fever, cough and breathing difficulty continues. Some people have a feeling of something or a band tied around their chest.

Day 7: On the 7th day, hospitalization of people who have been experiencing constant chest pain or pressure, bluish face or lips, and shortness of breath is done.

People with less severe symptoms until day 7 find their symptoms getting better.

Day 8-9: As per the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention, around 15% of individuals suffering from the coronavirus infection develop ARDs symptoms or symptoms of Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome. It is to be noted that Acute Respiratory Distress Syndrome occurs when the tiny, elastic air sacs in the lungs get filled up with fluid. It is this fluid that keeps the lungs from filling with enough air, thereby not allowing enough oxygen to reach the bloodstream. As a result, the organs get deprived of the oxygen they need to function well.

Day 10-11: If trouble in breathing becomes worse, it is during these two days that patients in the hospital are taken into the intensive care unit or ICU. Patients shifted to the ICU probably experience more abdominal pain and appetite loss than patients with milder infections.

Day 12: According to reports, fever ends for most individuals on Day 12. Though, the cough may still remain.

Days 13-14: Breathing difficulties generally end on these days for people who survive coronavirus.

Day 15-18: On average, individuals who recover from the coronavirus infection are discharged from the hospital in about after two-and-a-half weeks.

At Last

It is important to note that at first, symptoms might not appear right away after infection. However, a typical patient may not show any symptoms for five or more days, even though infected.

While people may know what coronavirus is all about, they may have different experiences altogether. It is important to have an understanding of the occurrence of Covid-19 symptoms, but stressing over them is not the right thing to do.

Ensuring the use of masks, maintaining social distance, washing hands regularly, are a few precautionary measures one can take to avoid the deadly diseases in the first place. After all, prevention is better than cure.
