Niva Bupa Health Insurance Premium Calculation

Niva Bupa Health Insurance plans not only differ in terms of coverage benefits but also premiums. Premium is the amount that you are required to pay periodically, to avail of policy benefits. Premiums for Niva Bupa Health Insurance plans depend on several factors explained below:

  1. Age: Age of the policyholder is a major factor that determines the premium for a Niva Bupa Health Insurance plan. It is said that you must buy a health insurance policy when young. The reason behind this is that the earlier you buy health insurance, the lesser premium you will be charged. But the more you age, the more prone you are to various illnesses, sicknesses, and diseases, which increases your health insurance premium.
  2. Body Mass Index (BMI): People with high Body Mass Index are more prone to illnesses than people with normal BMI. These can be cardiovascular ailments, diabetes, etc., the treatment of which is expensive. So, if someone has high BMI, then he/she will be required to pay a higher health insurance premium as it increases the liability for the insured, as compared to the person with normal BMI.
  3. Sum Insured: The sum insured is the total amount that you can avail benefits for under your Niva Bupa Health Insurance plan. The higher the sum insured you choose, the more coverage you can avail, therefore higher premium you will be required to pay. But it does not indicate that you should compromise on the sum insured to save premium. This is because the policy will be of no use if you are not able to avail benefits with sufficient sum insured when the need arises.
  4. Number of Members Covered: The higher the number of members covered under a Niva Bupa Health insurance policy, the higher premium you will be required to pay for the same. This is because you enjoy greater coverage in this case, which increases the insurer’s liability. Under Niva Bupa Health insurance plans, you can include your family members like a legally wedded spouse, dependent children, parents, parents-in-law, etc. on a family floater basis.
  5. Add-on Covers: Add-on covers are additional benefits that you can include under your Niva Bupa Health Insurance policy by paying an extra premium at the time of policy purchase. These add-ons are not mandatory to buy but you can include them for extra coverage. But if you do not opt for any add-on benefit, then your health insurance premium will be lesser than that of a person who does include them.

What Is A Health Insurance Top-up Plan and A Super Top-Up Plan And Why Should I Buy It?

A top-up policy offers you additional coverage on your existing health insurance plan. This cover comes into the scene when the sum insured of your existing health insurance policy is not enough during a medical emergency. With a top-up policy, one can avail coverage for a single claim over and above the threshold limit, known as the deductible. On the other hand, a super top-up plan allows you to get coverage on multiple hospitalisations. Top-up and super top-up health insurance plans are not mandatory to buy but are prefered by many as they are affordable and offer great benefits.

Niva Bupa Health Insurance offers a top-up plan as well as a super top-up plan namely Money Saver and Health Recharge respectively. Health Recharge Plan offers cover for sum insured options between Rs. 2 Lakh and Rs. 95 Lakh for various healthcare expenses including daycare treatments, in-patient hospitalisation expenses, pre and post-hospitalisation expenses, domiciliary hospitalisation expenses, organ donor expenses, etc. Whereas Money Saver is a combination of base and top-up plan that covers you for several healthcare expenses such as in-patient hospitalisation expenses, pre-hospitalisation and post-hospitalisation expenses, domiciliary hospitalisation expenses, daycare treatments, emergency ambulance expenses, and expenses related to organ transplant, for sum insured options up to Rs. 1 crore. Both the plans come with several add-on covers which you can opt for as per your requirement. In short, both are reliable health insurance plans that can be purchased with a regular health insurance plan, for extensive coverage.
