Tips To Stay Positive During COVID-19 - Since the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) has entered India, there is only gloomy and doomy news surrounding us from all sides. People talk about severe illness, death, economic slowdown, job losses, and so on. And similar issues covered in local and national news. It is in times like these when but these thoughts may be counterproductive. As no one knows until when the virus will last and when the vaccine will be available. 

So, instead of getting so much indulged in unpleasant details, what you can do is find ways to stay happy and positive.

1. Strengthen Your Connections

With much time in your hands, take it as an opportunity to spend more time with your loved ones. Take time to express your love for them with little gestures like hugs, kisses, long conversations, helping them with work/study, and so on. It will boost your oxytocin- a hormone that bonds people and has a calming effect on your body. As oxytocin levels in your body increase, you become less stressed.    

2. Help And Support Your Staff

Allow work from home for your staff and avoid pay-cut if possible. Connect with them to know how they are feeling and if everyone’s fine at their place or not. Also, ask them if you can do anything for them.

Random acts of kindness for others is sure to make you even happier than the receiver. So, you can experience happiness by giving your delivery man a little something, or offering some beverage to them, promoting your friend’s start-up by sharing details online on your social media, sending lovely e-mails to friends, and the list goes on.

3. Learn Something New

The extra time that you have during self-quarantine can be used to upgrade your skills. You can pursue short term courses online or simply learn something to cook. The idea is to be productive so that it gives you a sense of accomplishment and makes you feel more confident about yourself. 

4. Watch Funny Stuff

Before the coronavirus entered our lives, we didn’t have much time to watch stuff online. Now is the time when you can watch what you always wanted to. Prefer watching funny stuff like comedy videos, films, etc. So that your mind feels relaxed.

5. Meditation Is the Key

Prayers and meditation can help you relieve your mind and make you calmer. You can choose to meditate online or offline as you feel comfortable. However, miraculous changes cannot be expected, but meditation is recommended for all. You can also do yoga, exercise, dance, and other physical activities like gardening to soothe your mind.  

6. Limit Your News Intake

Instead of being constantly glued to the television set and watch gloomy news 24*7, set a time table to dedicate the number of hours for news intake. Choose a single news source-television, radio or online, and get information only for the decided time.
