If you are planning a long-distance motorcycle ride, learning a few useful tips from people who do this regularly will almost certainly improve your rides. Read more.

For your first solo bike road trip, it's critical to be prepared. Whether you carry your own motorcycle or plan to rent one, make sure you consider all of the important factors before hitting the road. This will make the trip more pleasant and stress-free.

9 Things To Know Before Going On A Long Bike Ride

Here are a few basic tips to ensure you have a memorable and enjoyable trip…

  • Frequency Of Fuel Stations

Even before you start, look up the frequency of fuel stations on the internet or ask people who frequently travel that stretch of road. Though most National Highways have such stations located throughout the route, there are some stretches where you will be without fuel when you really need it.

  • Check Air Pressure

During long trips, the air pressure in the tyre will be critical. Ensure that it is well-maintained throughout the voyage.

  • Monitor Your Baggage

This is crucial. It's best to travel light. Keep your luggage as light as possible. Not that you should leave most of your essentials at home and suffer. It's also critical to remember that the bag must be properly secured to the grab-rail (or hooks).

  • Learn How To Remove The Wheels Of Your Bike

Find the speed that is most comfortable for you. Every rider will have a comfortable speed at which he or she can ride. Of course, this will differ from rider to rider. Once you've found it, keep going at the same speed. This will also help you maintain better control of your bike.

  • Choose A Proper Bike

It is important that you ride the proper bike. On a simple commuter bike, it is not advisable to ride around 500 kilometres in one go. It's simply because these bikes aren't built for this purpose. If you plan to travel more than 800-1000 kilometres, go for a liquid-cooled bike with a larger capacity and more power. Not that our regular 150-180cc bikes can't handle it, but an apt bike would be preferable.

  •  Check For All The Lights

Before you start your journey, double-check that your headlamp, taillight, and turn indicators are all working correctly. When you're out for a long ride, all three of these lights are critical.

  • Basic Kits

In the small area designated for tool boxes on your bike, you'll find a tool kit and a first aid kit. These two simple kits will be included with all bikes. Make certain that both of these are present. The tool kit will include the basic tools you'll need in the event of a breakdown or a puncture. The same can be said for the first-aid kit.

  • Be Prepared For Unexpected Weather

When taking a motorcycle road trip, you must be more careful of weather conditions than when taking a car trip. Make sure you're ready to deal with it if it starts raining suddenly or the temperature rises above normal. It's a must to bring raincoats and riding gear that will protect your luggage.

  • Safety Is Prioritized First

The final point is the most crucial. Keep in mind that you are riding for your own enjoyment. It is strongly discouraged to race or travel at high speeds. This would literally drain your energy, and you would be unable to continue your journey.
