ICICI Lombard Launches Novel Coronavirus Insurance Policy

Coronavirus Insurance: ICICI Lombard, India's leading private sector non-life insurance company is new to join hands with other health insurers in providing cover for coronavirus disease.
The insurer recently launched its 'COVID-19 Protection Cover', a dedicated policy for coronavirus patients. The policy can be availed in the group insurance mode for a period of 1 year. It is noteworthy that the cover is restricted to Indian nationals, those without travel history to any overseas location after December 31, 2019.
“The COVID-19 protection cover policy will provide financial support to the coronavirus infected cases. The company will pay 100 per cent of the opted Sum Insured as a lump sum in the event of the first diagnosis itself. The cover will prove to be a big help in such challenging times.”, said Sanjay Datta, Chief – Underwriting, Claims and Reinsurance, ICICI Lombard.
The insurance company will pay a 100% lump sum amount, irrespective of the hospitalization expenses, in case the policyholder tests positive for coronavirus or COVID-19 disease at any of the Government authorized centres. The initial waiting period for the policy is 14 days.

People aged between 18 years to 75 years can buy COVID-19 Protection Cover. The policy can be availed at a sum insured of Rs. 25,000 with a premium of Rs. 149. Value-added benefits like Health Assistance and Virtual assistance through chat, teleconsultation, and ambulance assistance are a big plus.
