What is the Cashless Claim Process of United India Health Insurance?

When a policyholder gets the required medical treatment at a hospital which is a part of the network of the insurance company, the claim is processed in a cashless manner, i.e., the insurer pays its liability directly to the hospital.

Here are the steps to raise a cashless claim with United India Insurance Company:

Step 1: Intimate the Insurance Provider

Step 2: Pre-Authorisation Request

Step 3: Verification of Documents
The TPA or insurance provider upon getting the cashless request form and related medical information from the policyholder or network provider shall issue a pre-authorization letter to the hospital after thorough verification.

Step 4: Claim Approval
If the TPA or claim settlement team of the insurer requires any other information, they may ask for some other documents too. However, they hold the right to reject the requests too, if they find the documents or details insufficient or false.

Step 5: Settlement of Claim
At the time of discharge, the insured person is required to verify and sign the discharge papers and pay for non-medical and inadmissible expenses. Then, the network hospital sends the final request with the complete hospital bill. After receiving the same, the insurance provider pays off the medical expenses after considering any co-payment, inadmissible expense or any other deduction.

United India Health Insurance Premium Calculation

The premium amount of the health insurance plans gets affected by some factors. Information of such factors can help you find health insurance policies as per their need and budget. Factors affecting the premium amount of health insurance plans of United India Insurance Company are as follow:

  • Age – Young people are less likely to have health complications than older people, which means insurance providers need to pay compensation more frequently to latter than former. Therefore, policyholders of lower age are charged with less premium and policyholders with more age have to pay a higher premium.
  • Sum Insured – To choose a higher insurance cover, a higher premium is required to be paid. With your selection of a higher sum insured amount, the insurance provider becomes entitled to pay for more compensation during a medical emergency, which impacts the premium amount. Therefore, choose the sum insured amount strictly as needed.
  • Injurious Habits – Habits like smoking, chewing tobacco and other harmful substances on a regular basis increases health risks. The insurance providers see people with such habits as high-risk insurance buyers and charge higher premiums from them than from policyholders with healthy habits. Even, their applications can get rejected sometimes.
  • Occupation – The nature of work of policyholders and the amount of risk involved in it influence the premium charges. For instance, if a policyholder works at a school, he or she might get little or negligible exposure to any health risk, so his or her premium will be normal, but a person who works at a construction site or a factory is more prone to any injury or illness, hence, the premium amount will be higher.
  • Body Mass Index (BMI) – The insurers offer health insurance plans at a higher price to people with higher Body Mass Index (BMI) as they are more vulnerable to health complications like hypertension, diabetes, etc., and they have more chances of rising medical expenses. Hence, they are required to pay a higher premium than people with normal BMI.

  • Pre-hospitalisation and Post-hospitalisation – The insurance provider covers the medical expenses of a policyholder incurred during the period up to 30 days prior to hospitalisation and during the period up to 60 days after the discharge from the hospital.
  • Day Care Procedures – It refers to a treatment or procedure which is conducted with local anaesthesia in a hospital or day care centre within 24 hours due to technological advancement and requires no hospitalisation. The insurer covers 140 daycare procedures.
