Star Health Introduces Novel Coronavirus Insurance Policy to Cover COVID-19

Coronavirus Insurance: Keeping in mind the current global situation, Star Health and Allied Insurance has decided to provide health insurance coverage for coronavirus or COVID-19 disease under its new plan Star Novel Coronavirus Insurance Policy.
The policy has been designed to provide cover to people who test positive for Novel Coronavirus disease and require hospitalization. Star Novel Coronavirus Insurance Policy is a pilot product launched by the insurer that will be available for a policy term of 1 year. An initial waiting period of 16 days is applicable from the date of commencement of this policy.
Addressing the launch of Star Novel Coronavirus Insurance Policy, Anand Roy, Managing Director, Star Health and Allied Insurance Co. Ltd. said, “The Coronavirus Covid -19 has been declared a pandemic by WHO and it is necessary that Indian citizens protect themselves against this virus. The Star Novel Coronavirus Policy has been designed to cover those who test positive, whether or not they have traveled beyond the country’s borders. Our coronavirus cover will help provide a lump-sum payout for those affected to meet their hospitalization expenses.”
Star Novel Coronavirus Insurance Policy will provide a lump sum benefit to any individual between the ages of 18 years up to 65 years. Most importantly, the policy provides insurance coverage to even those who have an international travel history.
The policy can be availed under two sum insured options of Rs. 21,000 with a premium of Rs. 459 plus GST and Rs. 42,000 with a premium of Rs. 918 plus GST.
