Edelweiss Tokio Life- Heart Ailment and Cancer Insurance Plan

A number of disease-specific Health insurance exist and the newest insurer in this segment, Edelweiss Tokio Life Insurance, has introduced Heart and Cancer Insurance Plan, known as ‘Health Shield+’. One may choose an insurance plan to cover either cancer only, heart disease only or both depending on the requirement. Health Shield+ covers all kinds of cancer and 17 heart problems and has a unique feature named Term Trigger benefit.
In the Health Shield+ scheme, any of the three choices can be selected:
Choice 1: Early-stage and Major stage of cancer are covered.
Choice 2: Minor and Major stage of heart ailment is covered.
Choice 3: Early-stage and Major stage of cancer and Minor and Major stage of heart ailment are covered.
There are different severities when it comes to cancer and heart disease. Based on the severity of the illness the insurance company, Edelweiss Tokio Life, either pays a share of the assured amount or a full amount. The table below explains better:

A minimum of Rs. 5 Lakhs can be assured and a maximum of Rs. 50 Lakhs can be assured. In case one is diagnosed with cancer or illness related to heart, a claim can be made under the policy so that one can easily handle day to day expenses and as well as treatment expenses.
