Tips To Keep In Mind While Relocating Your Two Wheeler

Essential Tips For Getting Your Bike Relocated To Another City

Are you shifting to a new city or town? In this article, we will guide you through everything that you need to do when moving your two-wheeler from an old city to a new one.

1. Relocation Period

If you are planning to move to a new city just for a brief period, then you need not undergo the formality of transferring your bike. Only if you plan to relocate for a period of time that is more than one year, do you need to go through the relocation process. So, it is important that you first identify your objective of relocation and only then proceed with other things.

2. Get NOC

NOC or No Objection Certificate is an important document that you must get before planning to shift to a new city. First and foremost, you need a NOC from your registered RTO to ensure that there are no pending amounts that you need to clear. On the other hand, you also need a NOC from the traffic police to guarantee that you need not pay any more pending challans.

Along with this NOC is also required from a bank, in case you have taken a loan from the bank for buying your bike. Finally, a NOC from the police department is also required. This is needed to confirm as there are no open cases in progress or registered involving your two-wheeler vehicle, which is to be re-registered. This step can be considered a security measure to keep a check against illegal activities.

3. Essential Documents

Some of the essential documents that you must keep handy includes the following:

  • Forms 27 and form 28 from RTO
  • Registration Certificate or RC
  • Bike insurance policy
  • Pollution Under Check Certificate of your two-wheeler

Always, keep a copy of these documents, so that in case you lose them, you can easily get the original ones through its copy.

4. Two-wheeler Insurance Policy

Your two-wheeler insurance policy is an important document that you must carry no matter where you go. Although, the two-wheeler policy will be valid throughout the nation. However, it is important that you from your end inform the insurer about the relocation. This is because the premium of a two-wheeler insurance policy depends on the geographical location. For instance, the premium would be higher in regions where the terrain is not apt such as Ladakh and other places. So, no matter what, always keep your insurer updated, so that you face no problem while raising the claim against your two-wheeler plan.

5. Get Your Two-wheeler Re-registered

Finally, after you have taken all the necessary steps, you need to get your bike re-registered in the new city. Since motor laws and taxes of various states vary, you need to contact your nearest RTO of the new city to get your two-wheeler re-registered. For example, if you are shifting from Pune to Delhi, then you will need to submit the NOC from Pune and other relevant documents at the RTO in Delhi.

Take Away

The process of relocation of vehicles can be worrisome without the complete and right information.
