List of Documents to Carry When Riding a Two-Wheeler

The following is a list of two-wheeler documentation to have with you while riding your bike:

 Registration Certificate

The bike's Registration Certificate, or RC, is the most critical document to keep with you at all times. The RC will verify that the two-wheeler is legal and has been registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO), as required by law. The RC for the bike would have crucial information such as the registration number, the bike's brand and model, as well as the owner's contact information, among other things.

Driving License

You must also have a valid driving license with you, as this is what allows you to lawfully ride a two-wheeler on public roadways. It is granted by the RTO once the applicant passes the appropriate driving test. It also indicates the sort of two-wheeler you are permitted to ride, namely, gear or no gear. When riding a bike, you must have your driver's license with you at all times, according to the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988.

Bike Insurance Policy

When riding a bike on public highways, you must have two-wheeler insurance coverage. The paperwork proves that the bike is insured with both Third-Party Liability and Own Damage coverage, which is required. The registration number of the car, the insurance company, the kind of coverage, the policy's duration, and the coverage maximum are all listed on the insurance policy.

Pollution Under Control Certificate

To lawfully ride a bike on public highways, you must have a Pollution Under Control Certificate (PUCC). The PUCC provides information on the amount of pollution your bike produces as well as the vehicle registration number. The certification attests that the amount of carbon monoxide released by your bike is under the legal limit set by the authorities. As a result, anytime you ride your two-wheeler on roads, you must have a PUCC with you.

Certificate of Fitness

A new bike is legal to ride on the road until it reaches the age of 15 years. After that, you must obtain a bike fitness certificate in order to continue riding on public roads, and you must renew the fitness certificate every two years after that. So, if you're riding a bike that's over 15 years old, make sure you have your fitness certificate with you at all times.

Certificate of Medical Fitness

Those above the age of 50 must present a Medical Certificate if the authorities want it. The Medical Certificate certifies that you are medically fit to ride a bike. The certificate must be signed by a doctor who certifies that the applicant is medically fit to possess a two-wheeler’s driving license.

Take Away

Keep this list handy and remember to carry the above-mentioned documents with you at all times to stay in compliance with the law and to avoid any issues if you are ever pulled over on the road and required to provide any of the following paperwork.
