While riding a two-wheeler, tyres are the sole components which come into contact with the road. This simply means that all the hi-tech bike components and their performance can be seen on the road solely via the tyres. In order for the tyres to function properly, the rubber of the motorbike’s tyre needs to be in a good position. How to Maintain Tyre Pressure of Your Bike?

Highlighted below are the ways in which a rider can maintain their motorcycle’s tyre pressure:

  • Inspect the Pressure of Tyre

First of all, check whether the tyres are properly placed or not and see if there are any kinds of punctures, which can most likely happen due to minute sharp objects such as glass, that can easily blowout the air pressure from the tyre. Also, properly check the complete surface of the tyre by moving it forward and backwards.

  • Check Pressure of the Tyre

Your two-wheeler’s air pressure is an extremely important factor to judge the handling and quality of your ride. If the tyres are not inflated properly, they will soon start to wear off. Therefore, it is significant to regularly keep a check on the air pressure of your bike’s tyres. The ideal time to check the air pressure is prior to riding the bike as at that time they are cool. Once the bike is in motion, it would heat up and result in varying density and pressure. Also, check the manual of your two-wheeler for the recommended PSI levels.

  • Add Air Pressure Whenever Required

Once you are done checking the tyres, until the tyres reach the recommended air pressure, keep inflating them with compressed air. In case you over-inflate the tyres, you can deflate them by releasing the extra air. Once again check the tyres after riding for a few hours, in case there is 10% gain in the air pressure, know that the tyres of your motorcycle are working too hard.

Alongside the air pressure also check the tyre tread. It is important in stopping the motorbike from skidding on wet roads. In case the tread is reduced by an inch or quarter and the tread is balded, you should give a thought on changing the tyres.

Owning and maintenance of a motorcycle can prove to be an expensive deal. Therefore, it is important to get your bike insured with at least a two-wheeler insurance plan or a comprehensive insurance plan. The insured will be offered financial coverage against accident, collision, third party damages etc.

Final Words

Purchasing a motorcycle and its maintenance to keep it in excellent condition goes hand in hand. The pressure of the tyre often gets overlooked, which is one of the primary factors in keeping the motorcycle in a superior condition and in order to enjoy an uninterrupted ride. So, now when you are aware of the ways to check the air pressure of the tyre, you are all set to go.
